Our club's first ever official swim meet

24 Jul 2022 by Jason Bryce

Hi swim fans,

Six club members represented us at the Masters Swimming Victoria Long Course Championships at Ballarat this weekend.

Masters Swimming is for everyone 18 years or over. We are the only swimming club based at a beach but we fit straight in to these championships and we’re one of the better performing clubs.
Ethan, Laura, Ashley, Sam, Nicole and I swam a heap of individual events over the two days plus eight team relays.
As it turns out, we can actually swim and for what it’s worth, our club has won plenty of gold, silver and bronze medals.
In the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle, and the backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly we won places in all events.
Ethan in particular improved his personal best times as he prepares for the Special Olympics nationals in October.
More importantly we all had an amazing fun time in Ballarat.
MSV held a lovely dinner at the NorthStar Hotel on Saturday evening.
We met at Australia’s last Dine-in Pizza Hut on Sunday afternoon for an All-You-Can-Eat late lunch. We took this very seriously and yes we can eat … 😄👍🍕🍨👋💪🏼👏👏👏

Next championship event is Vic Long Distance Championship at MSAC 3rd September. Relay Championship is at MSAC 23 October.

Thanks 🙏

Jason
