Hi swim fans,

In this email you’ll find info about:

1) New club committee elected last week
2) Swim into Spring event Sunday 2 October
3) Vic Long Distance Championships
4) Vic relay championships
5) Cold Water Protocol – cold water immersion group

1) Firstly, thanks to the new club committee elected at the AGM last week:

Neil Savage Secretary
Liz Zamora Assist Secretary
Dan Tait Treasurer
Kirsty Allen VP
Nicole Dean VP
Bruce Swift Committee member /returning officer
Jason Bryce President
And there are so many other people who are helping with organisation for our swim events behind the scenes especially Camilla, Carolyn, Amy, Dora, Sam, Ian, Ash, Julia and just so many others.

Now for swimming news.

2) The next amazing open water swim event at Williamstown Beach is the 1.8km “Swim into Spring” 10am Sunday 2 October. This is a casual swim to Pointy Rock from Williamstown Beach, you will see amazing sea life and have a great time. Club members get $10 off as usual. This is the direct link for booking: https://MOWSCandWOWSwimming.as.me/SwimIntoSpring

3) The next Masters Swimming Victoria event is the 2022 Long Distance Championship at MSAC on Sunday 4th September. There are already a few entries from our club, so we will have a nice little team. I’m entering the 1500m free and the 400m medley. You can choose your favourite stroke and have a go in the 50m pool at MSAC. You will be placed in a heat with other swimmers of about your own speed. This is about having fun. This link takes you to the program and to the entry page: https://mastersswimmingvic.org.au/event/lcld-championships/

4) MSV Relay Championships (SC) are on Sunday 23 October at MSAC. This one is really fun. There are NO INDIVIDUAL EVENTS at this meet, only freestyle and medley relays and we can do really well (and have fun of course).
They are 4 × 25m, 4 × 50m, 4 × 100m and 4 × 200m. It’s in men, women and mixed categories. I’ll be putting together mens, womens and mixed teams for most of these events, so get in touch. This is the link to find out more (entries not open yet): https://mastersswimmingvic.org.au/event/msv-sc-relay-championships/

5) Cold Water Immersion Therapy Group with Amy:
Most of us are committed swimmers but there’s plenty of other people out there who would like a bit of support to get in the sea and experienced the amazing power of the sea water on our bodies and minds. Amy is running Cold Water Protocol group on Tuesday 6.30am and 9.30am and Fridays 6.30am and 9.30am. Please let your friends and family know. This is great way to get into the sea and feel better all over: https://MOWSCandWOWSwimming.as.me/ColdWaterProtocol

As always, Saturday swim groups at 8am and 9am continue throughout the year.

So see you in the sea, or the pool!

Thanks

Jason
