Melbourne Open Water Cup is your ideal prep for a summer of swimming

26 Aug by Jason Bryce

Hi Swimmers,

The Melbourne Open Water Cup (9am Tuesday 5th November) at Williamstown Beach is the unofficial launch of the summer open water season and a great entry level prep for tougher challenges.

This Melbourne OW Cup will be bigger and better than ever, thanks to generous support from the Westgate Neighbourhood Fund and our sponsors:

This year, celebrate Melbourne Cup Day with an early season hit out at the beach followed by tea, coffee, food later.

The premier event is the 3200m Cup distance, starting in two waves at 9.00 and 9.01am.

At 9.02am the 2400m starts, followed at 9.03am (1600m) and 9.04am (800m).

There is a BYO/DIY feeding station (kayak) in the water. You can bring a labelled mesh bag with drink and nutrition for a mid-race feed stop if you want.

This is the perfect way to get ready for the longer open water swim events being held this summer.

We will have coffee, tea, snacks, food and something for the kids to do at the beach on the holiday Tuesday.

3200m – Wave A: 9.00am
3200m – Wave B: 9.01am
2400m – 9.02am
1600m – 9.03am
800m – 9.04am

Club members get a $10 discount (enter your code) and the EARLY BIRD price is an additional $10 off these retail prices:

3200m and 2400m = $47.50
1600m and 800m = $43.50
